Appointment Information
Total Triage
The Revel Surgery has adopted the 'Total Triage' system to ensure all GP appointment requests are dealt with in a timely and appropriate manner. Patients submit appointment requests through a structured form, which is completed either online, over the telephone or by visiting the practice. Each request is triaged by one of our GPs and you will be contacted by telephone or text message to offer you an appointment. We aim to deal with medically urgent issues within 24hours. If your problem is routine will be offered the next available routine appointment.
Please provide as much information as you are able to, this ensures your request is dealt with effciently.
There is a link to the 'Total Triage' form on the Homepage. It can also be accessed through the NHS APP in the 'Services' menu. Our reception team are also happy to send a link directly to your phone.
Please continue to book blood test and nurse appointments by calling the surgery.
Booking Appointments
All of our doctors will help you deal with acute and long-term health problems and illnesses. If you have a doctor or clinician preference, please add this to your Total Triage form. We hope to provide you with continuity of care at a time convenient for you when possible.
Online Appointments
You can book a variety of appointments online via the NHS APP
Other Methods of Booking Appointments
If you are unable to use online appointments contact our reception team on 01788 834830 who will be happy to find the right support for your issue. The receptionists are all trained by our doctors in signposting patients which may mean they have to ask additional questions. Please do your best to answer their questions accurately. It may also mean that they direct you to another service not in the practice, for example, the pharmacy or the minor eye service.
Cancelling Your Appointment
If you are unable to attend an appointment or do not need it anymore, please cancel it at least an hour before so that we can offer it to another patient. This is extremely important as appointments are in great demand.
Appointments can be cancelled by phoning the surgery on 01788 834830
You can also cancel your appointment using the NHS App
Appointment Times
Our clinicians will always endeavour to keep to your appointment time. However, appointments may overrun due to the nature of a patients consultation or the clinician may be called to help respond to an emergency. We appreciate your understanding during these exceptional circumstances.
Our telephone clinics are run flexibly, to allow us to call more than once if you miss the first call. It is also more important than ever that we have your up to date telephone numbers. Please confirm your details when booking your appointment.
SMS Text Reminder
We can send you a free SMS text appointment reminder to a mobile phone. Please make sure we have the correct and up to date mobile number for you
Late Appointments
Please make sure you arrive on time for your appointment. Late arrivals cause delays for clinicians and other patients. If you come late you may not be seen and may be asked to re-book for another day.
Chaperones for Intimate Examinations
Care of our patients sometimes requires the doctor, nurse, or another health professional to carry out intimate examinations or procedures. Some people may find the thought of undergoing this type of examination distressing. However, we want to reassure you that we respect your comfort, dignity, and privacy and we will arrange the examination so that these are maintained. We will offer you a chaperone (a number of our surgery team have received training for this role). You may also ask for a chaperone to be present during your consultation - however, this may require you to return on a separate occasion if a member of staff training in chaperoning is not available.
Interpreters
The Staff and Clinicians have the use of a telephone translation service. We understand the importance of interpreters but due to the very high demand, we cannot guarantee that they will be available for every contact.
